Coin Collecting was first introduced to me by my Grandmother in the early 1970’s and quickly became a passion. I used to spend hours looking at the coin books Grandma put together for me. Back then, I started collecting Lincoln cents and Silver Roosevelt Dimes. That was over 35 years ago. My Dad would take me to the local banks and I would buy rolls of Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels and Roosevelt Dimes and would extract the coins I thought were collectable and return the rest to the bank and start all over again. This is a “coin collecting” practice that has followed me into adulthood.
Like any hobby, there have been times that my coin collection lay in a dormant state for many months before the collecting bug would bite again. Like many modern day coin collectors, I got jump started again in 1999 with the 50 State Quarters Program and again in 2000 with the Sacagawea ‘Golden Dollar’ coin.
I was first introduced to the concept of “Certified Coins” from seeing them listed in eBay auctions. I was very impressed with the concept and soon joined the coin collector clubs of the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, Professional Coin Grading Service and the Independent Coin Grading Company. The concept of a 3rd party unbiased coin grading system was very appealing to me. I have submitted coins for grading to all 3 of these companies. After hundreds of certified coin grading submissions, I personally feel that NGC & PCGS are the strictest graders and hold the highest resale value. The majority of the coins I have listed for sale are by these two independent coin grading companies.
As you look at the coins I have for sale, you will notice the majority of the coins are either Business Strike (coins manufactured for general circulation) or SMS (satin mint state; coins manufactured for coin collectors). I believe some of the rarest modern day coins are super high grade business strike coins. You can verify this by the small coin census numbers in the NGC or PCGS Population Reports. These coins types of coins are usually swallowed up by the Coin Registry collectors.
Thank you for visiting Certified-Coins. If you are looking for a special modern high grade coin not listed on my site, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to help you find one.
Happy Collecting!
